“I think the co-op has a role in modeling [a way forward], we’re saying, like, look, there are alternatives, there are other ways to do this, we don’t have to keep doing what we’re doing. In fact, why don’t we all get together and find new ways of doing what we’re doing that really work for everyone involved? Things where we’re eating healthier, we’re supporting people. It doesn’t have to be about personal gain, it can be about community gain, it can be about net gain, and this is an epicenter of that -- of a re-imagining and a modeling that people can look at and say this really is possible, it’s not a fantasy... I think now we’re a vital part of the community and I don’t see us stopping anytime soon. I think the cooperative movement is really vital -- we need to stop acting for personal gain and start acting in net gain and community gain and make decisions that benefit everyone involved.”
