MJ (Co-op Composter, owner of Mulberries Farm, owner #1732)

"I sort through the compost and shrink and as you know I try to take food to the [Austin’s Place] Women’s Shelter. It’s kind of a step by step process. These are mixed greens from Blue Moon and they don’t smell too strong, so I’m going to take those to the ducks back in Champaign in my backyard. Sometimes when food is a little too far gone, I pass it along to the ducks and sometimes I also drop compost off at my neighbor’s, who raises cattle, and the cattle really like the fruit. The fruit stickers take the most time removing. So usually when I can pass the fruit on, I try to remove the stickers and will be less processing time for the other farmers."
