“I think a lot of people are looking for a grocery store that is honorable in the way they treat their staff but most importantly the way they source their food. Our customers are really supportive of us not supporting these large brand companies that are controlled by the industrial farming complex. And they’re really interested in seeing what the co-op can do for the community, especially since we haven’t had state or federal assistance in any of our community-building. We’ve been really relying on the community-funded efforts. I think our customers really appreciate all the community-building we do. There’s just so many different ways that the customers do engage in the co-op that you wouldn’t see at other stores. It would make me angry if people thought we were just a grocery store. Like, dude, we’re so much more.”
